The Still Room aims to provide a welcoming, respectful and inclusive environment for everyone who works, hires, collaborates or participates in activities in the space.

Sawtooth Studios Ltd recognises that individuals bring different experiences, identities and perspectives. The organisation is committed to ensuring that all individuals are treated with dignity and respect and that the space remains accessible and welcoming to people from a wide range of backgrounds.

1. Introduction

1.1  The Still Room is operated by Sawtooth Studios Ltd and located at Suite 9D, Keswick Hall, Keswick, Norwich NR4 6TJ.

1.2  Sawtooth Studios Ltd is committed to promoting equality, diversity and inclusion across all activities connected with The Still Room and Sawtooth programmes. The organisation seeks to create an environment in which individuals feel respected, valued and able to participate comfortably in activities taking place within the space.

1.3  This policy outlines the principles that guide the organisation’s approach to equality, diversity and inclusion.

2. Scope of the Policy

2.1  This policy applies to all activities delivered directly by Sawtooth Studios Ltd, including activities at The Still Room and auditions and selection processes for Sawtooth programmes.

2.2  It applies to:

directors and officers of Sawtooth Studios Ltd

administrative and operational staff

freelancers and contractors engaged by the company

volunteers working under the direction of the company

participants attending activities organised by Sawtooth Studios Ltd

applicants to Sawtooth auditions and selection processes

2.3  Organisations, businesses and individuals hiring The Still Room are expected to conduct their activities in a way that respects the principles outlined in this policy.

3. Equality Commitment

3.1  Sawtooth Studios Ltd is committed to ensuring that individuals are treated fairly and without discrimination.

3.2  The organisation does not tolerate discrimination, harassment or exclusion on the basis of protected characteristics under the Equality Act 2010. These include: age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief, sex and sexual orientation.

3.3  This commitment applies equally to auditions and selection processes for Sawtooth programmes. Selection decisions are made on the basis of the work shown, readiness for the programme and fit for the specific opportunity.

3.4  Sawtooth Studios Ltd seeks to ensure that The Still Room and its programmes remain welcoming and accessible to individuals from a wide range of backgrounds.

4. Inclusive Environment

4.1  Everyone using The Still Room or participating in Sawtooth activities is expected to contribute to an environment that is respectful and inclusive.

4.2  This includes: treating others with dignity and respect, using respectful and inclusive language, respecting personal boundaries, and supporting a safe and welcoming environment for all users of the space.

4.3  Harassment, discrimination, bullying or behaviour that undermines the dignity of others will not be tolerated.

4.4  Sawtooth Studios Ltd reserves the right to intervene where behaviour is inconsistent with these principles, including by requiring an individual to leave the premises.

5. Accessibility

5.1  Sawtooth Studios Ltd recognises the importance of making the space and its programmes accessible wherever reasonably possible.

5.2  The Still Room includes: a lift providing access to the first floor, an accessible toilet, gender-neutral toilet facilities, and Blue Badge parking close to the main entrance.

5.3  Where reasonable adjustments can be made to support access to the space or to Sawtooth programmes, Sawtooth Studios Ltd will seek to accommodate these where practicable. Users of the space and applicants to Sawtooth programmes are encouraged to communicate any specific access requirements in advance where possible.

6. Responsibilities

6.1  Directors, staff, freelancers and contractors engaged by Sawtooth Studios Ltd are expected to support the organisation’s commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion.

6.2  This includes: treating others with professionalism and respect, supporting an inclusive environment within the space, avoiding discriminatory or exclusionary behaviour, and raising concerns where behaviour undermines the dignity or safety of others.

6.3  Organisations and individuals hiring The Still Room are expected to ensure that their activities are conducted in a manner consistent with the principles outlined in this policy.

7. Addressing Concerns

7.1  Individuals who experience or witness behaviour that they believe to be discriminatory, exclusionary or inappropriate are encouraged to raise the matter with Sawtooth Studios Ltd.

7.2  Concerns can be reported to edi@thestillroom-norwich.co.uk. All concerns will be acknowledged within five working days. Where further investigation or action is required, the individual raising the concern will be kept informed of progress.

7.3  All reports will be treated with discretion. Information will only be shared where necessary to address the concern or where required by law.

7.4  Where relevant, concerns may also be addressed through the Safeguarding Policy.

9. Policy Review
